Pengembangan Acne Patch Mengandung Kombinasi Minyak Sereh dan Minyak Kunyit: Karakterisasi dan Aktivitas Antibakteri

Jerawat (Acne vulgaris) merupakan penyakit kulit yang umum berkaitan dengan proliferasi Propionibacterium acnes. Minyak sereh wangi dan minyak kunyit berpotensi sebagai agen antibakteri alami untuk sediaan topikal antijerawat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan acne patch yang mengandung kombinasi kedua minyak atsiri serta mengevaluasi karakteristik fisikokimia dan aktivitas antibakterinya. Acne patch diformulasikan menggunakan matriks natrium alginat, kemudian dievaluasi meliputi organoleptis, ketebalan, pH, daya lipat, keseragaman bobot, kadar kelembapan, dan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap P. acnes menggunakan metode difusi agar. Seluruh formula memenuhi persyaratan organoleptis, ketebalan (0,11–0,14 mm), pH (6,14–6,75), daya lipat (>300 kali), dan keseragaman bobot, namun kadar kelembapan masih melebihi batas yang dipersyaratkan. Kombinasi minyak sereh wangi 3% dan minyak kunyit 6% menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi dalam bentuk minyak atsiri (12,68 mm), tetapi tidak menghasilkan zona hambat setelah diformulasikan menjadi acne patch. Hasil ini menunjukkan perlunya optimasi formulasi untuk meningkatkan pelepasan senyawa aktif dan efektivitas antibakterinya.
